Why do millennials love coworking?

Pourquoi ?

Millennials are the start-up generation

The crisis of 2008 has profoundly changed the world of work. Today, the consequences are that more and more young graduates are starting their own businesses, or turning to more creative ventures, such as start-ups. The millennial generation is looking for more sustainable and humane ways to use workspace to increase their productivity, and are therefore increasingly turning to coworking spaces.

They founded the sharing economy

Airbnb, Uber, ListMinut,… These companies were founded by millennials, and owe their success to this generation. Whereas in the 1950s owning a car was a real rite of passage, millennials now want access to shared goods, without necessarily spending a lot of money. Coworking offers them this opportunity.

They want experiences more than material goods

Millennials are more interested in experiences than buying a car or even a house. Travelling, making new discoveries, attending concerts and festivals are things that millennials love. The experiences offered by the coworking principle allow them to live this ideal in their daily work.

They want to be part of a community

This is a fundamental need for this generation which, unlike its elders, is less and less sedentary and less and less religious. This generation is the most connected in history, both online and offline. Coworking allows them to be part of a community and avoid isolation by working from home.

They want to grow

Milienials spend twice as much per month on personal development as baby boomers. They are more likely to spend their lunch break at a workshop, and to go to training courses that coworking spaces increasingly offer.

The workplace as we know it today is over a century old. Today, it is evolving at an increasingly rapid pace, at the same time as the expectations and desires of new entrants to the labour market are changing.
